Well, I don’t know how all of you feel but, for me it has been a very, very long winter. Snow and/or rain every other day, day time temps in the teens or twenties and not much well needed sunshine. Everyone needs sunshine, not only for the natural absorption of vitamin D but also for the wellness of the mind, which can lead to a positive attitude on life, and in turn, your home-based business.
I do have to confess that this winter has effected the attention given, or should I say the lack there of, to the focus of working my home-based business. I did however, do a lot of reading in ezines, forums, blogs, ebooks, newsletters, hard copy and magazines. I’ve watched online videos and DVD’s. Listened to Personal Empowerment and “How to” CD’s and especially, upgraded my website and blog to WordPress.
So now that Spring (the season of rebirth) has finally sprung, I’d like to share with you some of the things that I’ve learned that I hope will help you to be successful with you and your home-based business.
The most important element that impacts your home-based business is you. Who are you? What do you stand for? What don’t you or won’t you stand for? What are your goals? What are your family goals? What are your goals for your home-based business?
Finding the answers to these questions may sound scary but, it is a very important and enlightening step in the journey of self knowledge. Getting to know your strengths and weaknesses. What makes you happy or sad. You will be surprised at the effects and the successes this can have on you, your family, your friends and your home-based business.
First, make a list of all your Successes and Accomplishments. It could be anything, big or small, what ever is important to you. For example; quitting smoking, losing weight, the birth of your child, the purchase of your first home, learning a second language. The sky is not the limit. After you’ve completed your list go back and reread it. Quite amazing isn’t it! You can always add more to your list later because it’s something that never ends.
Next, make a list of things that needs improving. For example; exercising 20 minutes 3-4 days a week (it’s a proven fact that exercise increases energy and gives you a sense of well being), preparing and eating healthier meals, clean the house for 30 min. a day, spend more time with your family, send out correspondences once a week. These are just some examples. They aren’t things you have to do. You may have already accomplished these examples and are not an issue for you.
Remember, it’s your list and no one else’s so don’t feel you need to write things down that you think other people think you should improve on. That will only give you a headache, not to mention it’s a real downer. These exercises are for the “soul” purpose of getting you to a good place where you can feel good about yourself and your successes and accomplishments.
Keep these lists somewhere handy so you can view them occasionally. Add to your Successes and Accomplishments list or Needs Improvement list when necessary. Be sure to cross off the items on your Needs Improvement list when you’ve accomplished them.
Until next time……
